Spanish Birds

Over 500 bird species have been recorded in Spain, and the country's diversity of habitats makes it a very rewarding place to watch birds.  Compared to Britain, the sheer abundance of birds of prey is striking, with many species easily seen on a drive through the countryside.  The Pyrenees and Cordillera Cantabrica mark an environmental boundary, with many northern European species reaching their southern limit here, and typically Mediterranean species becoming scarce vagrants north of here.
