One of three treefrogs found in Arizona, the Canyon Treefrog is found over much of the northern and eastern halves of the state in upland areas near streams and springs.

This protected species has suffered major declines over than last century and now inhabits only a fraction of its former range. It is listed as a threatened species.
The Chiricahua Leopard Frog is the largest of Arizona's frogs (apart from the introduced Bullfrog) and can be recognised by having eyes high up on the head and upturned.
