Turtles & Tortoises of Arizona
Arizona has five native turtles and a single native tortoise, as well as several introduced species. There's only one described here, but hopefully I'll see others on future visits.
Wattlebirds and Honeyeaters
Honeyeaters and Wattlebirds are members of the family Meliphagidae, which is highly developed in Australia. These birds are nectar-feeders and play a vital role in the pollination of many Australian shrubs and trees.
Whites
The whites (Pieridae) comprise some of our most familar butterflies, including the ubiquitous 'Cabbage White', which is actually two similar species - the Small and Large White. This family also contains the delicate Wood White, one of our most threatened butterflies.
